Bobcaygeon Public School receives grant to plant 27 trees

Bobcaygeon Public School (BPS) administrators and School Council were recently joined by representatives from Tree Canada, Kawartha Conservation, and Environmental Action Bobcaygeon for a tree planting ceremony.

Through the School Council, BPS received a grant from Tree Canada to plant 27 trees on the property. The ceremony started with a representative from Kawartha Conservation leading a workshop for students on the benefits and types of tree planting. Each class in the school then got to plant their own tree.

“The biggest highlight was the excitement from our students,” said BPS principal, Andrea O’Leary. “They worked as a team to plant their class tree. It will be a lifelong memory for our students to visit BPS 20+ years from now and see how much their tree has grown and remember the day they planted it.”

A huge thank you to BPS School Council representative, Kathy Campbell, Colleen Cathcart from Kawartha Conservation, John Bush and his team from Environmental Action Bobcaygeon, Aaron Shaw from Crazy Tree Monkey, Ed Borczon from Trees Canada, and Home Hardware Bobcaygeon.
