About

School mission

Our community learns together.

Muskoka Beechgrove Public School (MBPS) is committed to learning. Every child will reach their full potential by meeting individual academic expectations. A balanced curriculum with a focus on literacy is the guiding principle at MBPS. Through personal example, staff will instill in their students the need and desire to be life-long learners. Through partnership with parents and the community, teachers will assist students in becoming responsible members of society who are prepared for life.

School history

History of MBPS – formerly known as S.S. No. 16 Muskoka.

In September 1948, the Muskoka Township School Board held school in the log building at Doherty’s Airport, which was known as Little Norway, the training centre for young Norwegian pilots during World War II.

In April of 1949, MBPS was built. It was a framed three room structure. MBPS was the last school in its area to have a coal-burning furnace. It was replaced in the mid 1970’s when additional classrooms were added to the school.
